How a friendship, a rivalry, and a love of the game gave birth to the Blenkner Cup.

The Blenkner Cup was founded in 2009 by a close group of friends led by Kevin Mitchell and Mike Fitzpatrick, two roommates living together on Blenkner Street would eventually come to form the tournament. Wanting to create a exclusive invite-only style competition inspired by the Ryder Cup, they set out to build something that could become an annual tradition.
Over a few pints of Guinness at Byrne's Pub, the captains selected the original players and locked in the dates for the very first Cup. Mike Fitzpatrick captained Team South, while Kevin Mitchell led Team North—a nod to their house on Blenkner Street, where Mike's bedroom was on the south side of the house and Kevin's was on the north.
Presented each year to the winning team's captain, the trophy carries the names of every champion and returns to the field the following summer — to be won again.
